After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!"
Definitions for worship abound. Simply put, to worship is to magnify God. He is first. He was first. He will always be first. All creation is to magnify Him. In so doing He lifts you up into the glories of His presence. Worship will be the lifestyle of eternity in His presence. One person put it this way, “If you don’t enjoy worship, cancel your reservation to heaven.” You won’t like it there.
There are two great themes for worship in Revelation. Revelation 4:11 states, "You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created." , gives the first. The Lord is worthy to be worshipped because of His great work of creation. In fact, this is the exact point at which atheists deny God worship. They refuse to acknowledge God's existence at all.
As great as the creation is, there is an even greater reason to worship the Lord. The creation does not reveal how to have a relationship with God. The design and harmonious beauty of the creation indeed indicates that there is a Creator. But it does not indicate how to know Him. As indicated by Rev 7:9-10, as well as Rev 5:9, redemption is the greatest theme of Worship. Jesus came to open the way for salvation through the forgiveness of sins, and hence, a personal relationship with God.
To magnify is to make Him great. How great is your God today? Your faith, hope, and love will grow as you magnify Him as both your Creator and Redeemer!
Who is worthy? Jesus the Lamb of God has proven worthy. Place your worthiness in Him. He will share it with you!
